Training & Mentoring
Preceptorships for Physicians
General Integrative Medicine Training
This 3-day training is geared toward conventionally trained physicians who are interested in expanding their horizons and learning about the philosophy of care and practical applications in integrative medicine for a wide range of conditions. The preceptorship is an opportunity to see patients with CCIM Medical Director John Pittman, MD, in order to learn from his 16 years of experience in integrative medicine. The training provides in-depth exposure to diverse CAM and integrative approaches to patient care. In addition to clinical observations and case-by-case discussions with Dr. Pittman, this preceptorship experience includes observation of patient education and nursing instructions; interactive discussions of cases observed; access to a library of resources; interactions with the parents of patients and the Carolina Center's support staff; and collection of Carolina Center patient education hand-outs and forms, as well as other resources that are seen as important to your mentoring experience.
Integrative Medicine for Autism Spectrum Disorders
This 3-day training focuses primarily on the “Defeat Autism Now!” (DAN!) approach to medical evaluation and treatment of children with Autism and ASDs. Another goal is to become familiar with other aspects of treatment, including, but not limited to: therapeutic assessments, nursing staff support, dietary and supplement instruction, hyperbarics, and intravenous therapies.
Integrative Medicine for Lyme Disease & Other Tick-Borne Illnesses

Another goal is to become familiar with other aspects of treatment, including, but not limited to: therapeutic assessments, nursing staff support, dietary and supplement instruction, and intravenous therapies (both nutritional and antimicrobial).
